High-Tech Employment Growth By Sector
Georgia’s high-tech employment had suffered during the recession with all major segments posting declines in 2010. However, the chart below shows a relatively strong recovery in the state with five of the seven tracked segments showing increases in 2011. Internet and multimedia employment soared more than 27 percent to pace the recovery. Telecommunications, however, posted a 7.8 percent decline. Compared with the U.S., Georgia outpaced the national average in internet and multimedia, high tech equipment and other technology segments that represents a collection of miscellaneous categories.
