High-Tech Employment – Benchmark States
Georgia ranked 13th among the 50 states in terms of high-tech employment, according to TechAmerica's CyberStates 2011 study. Georgia had slipped from the number 11 spot in the previous year's report. Among other benchmark states, California and Texas were ranked first and second respectively again in 2011. Florida slipped from 4th to 5th in rankings. The Cyberstates report defines technology more narrowly than does the Technology Association of Georgia, which includes additional componets of the workforce such as aerospace and other advanced manufacturing and research and development.
