Average Tuition at Public Universities

The average in-state tuition at Georgia's public 4-year colleges and universities soared nearly 16 percent in the current academic year. According to statistics compiled by the College Board, the average tuition in Georgia climbed from $5,872 to $6,808. This rate of increase was nearly double the national average of 8.3 percent. Nevertheless, on a nominal basis, Georgia's public tuition remained a relative bargain compared to the national average of $8,244. Among the benchmark states, Florida posted the lowest average tuition at $5,626.
