Key Finding 1: State Technology Employment

Talent

Employment in Georgia’s technology private sector continues to grow in 2017 with the addition of almost 6,000 new technology jobs – continuing to be one of the nation’s top 10 U.S. technology employment markets with 293,501 technology employees.

This new incremental employment growth added $.56B to the technology sector’s payroll, bringing the total technology payroll to over $25 billion.

While technology employment grew in Georgia, the number of technology establishments declined by 9.7% in 2017 to 20,709 – which is part of noticeable patterns of facility consolidation within certain industries and work arrangements that include “working from home” or remote locations.
