Key Finding 3: Sector Composition | Talent Gap

The Software and IT and Telecommunications sectors represent almost 50% of total GA technology employment. With the Internet and Multi-media, Software, and Biosciences adding the most new technology jobs, occupations such as applications developers and project managers are becoming the most critical jobs.

Yet, signs of a talent gap within the GA technology market persist. According to market leaders, the technology talent is an average 7.5 on a 10 point scale which indicates a generally “good” assessment. However, perceptions of talent quality have not improved over 2015.

As more companies are focusing on “big data” for services and operations, the ability to find data scientists and big data modelers is regarded by market leaders to some of the more difficult positions to fill.
